Group Description

In about 1980, a band of intrepid Diplomacy players in North Carolina began to meet together to play the game, to worship the game, and basically to get so good at the game that they started dominating national Diplomacy tournaments and postal games. As some of those people aged (not so gracefully) and started moving apart, the club-based gaming ended. All that is left of that activity is the Dixiecon tournament in Chapel Hill every Memorial Day, and a feeling that something else is needed.

That something else is more local play for the local players. It is time to resurrect the Carolina Amateur Diplomats and organize more local gaming. We should be able to get a game together in one or more of the three main population areas - Charlotte, Triad and Triangle, at least on a monthly basis. We need these games as a way to brush up on skills, get to know each other better, and to bring more new locals into the greater Diplomacy hobby. We also need to be carpooling and/or coordinating attendence at Dip tournaments. There is no reason we cannot get back to where we were 25 years ago - THE premier Diplomacy club in North America.

To that end, this group is hereby created to facilitate communication and the sense of community.
