A common cause (and easy fix) is the rear drop link / anti roll bar links. I don’t think all years have them, but if you do it’s a £12 quid part with 2 13

Sounds like a rear suspension arm bearing needs replacing if every thing else is unbroken and tight . Have a look to see if the relevant wheel is tilting in at

Paul, My 2003 C5 estate is still on the original rear suspension arm bearings at nearly 200,000 miles. Terrible clicking and metalic banging from the rear was

Paul, Probaly the rear swinging radius arm bushes/bearings. It's a design fault in the (series 2) C5 and they only last for about 55 to 80 thousand miles.
