      BSA and The Center for Fiction
      The Byron Society of America recently partnered with the Center for Fiction in New York City for an evening of literature, conversation, and refreshments. In the Center's elegant and historical building author Benjamin Markovits read from his new novel, Childish Loves, the final book in a trilogy based on Lord Byron. To the delight of all attendees, Markovits presented an extended reading from the novel and generously addressed questions.

      Houghton Library Byron Catalogue Now On-Line
      BSA members who attended the International Byron Society Conference last summer at Harvard University were privileged to view the new Houghton Library Catalogue "Let Satrire be My Song": Byron's English Bards, and Scotch Reviewers. The catalogue is now available to BSA members through the Byron Society website: www.byronsociety.org.

      Upcoming Conferences: Call for Papers

      Marking the 200th Anniversary of the Publication of Childe Harold's Pilgrimage, Cantos 1 and 2, a one-day conference at the DePaul Humanities Center, Chicago, to be held on Monday, April 30, 2012. The conference is being organized by BSA board member Jonathan Gross. Scheduled keynote speakers are BSA President Peter W. Graham and Christine Kenyon Jones. For further information, click here.

      Newstead Abbey Placed on World Monument Fund's Most Vulnerable List
      The World Monument Fund (WMF) has named Newstead Abbey as one of 67 endangered heritage sites around the world. The Fund recently announced that the "crumbling abbey, which is the ancestral home of the Romantic poet Lord Byron, is on their 2012 watch list, meaning it is in urgent need of restoration. Experts at the WMF say the building has suffered significant deterioration and needs a long term strategy for maintenance and conservation. Click here to read the full story.

      John Webster of Pathinder Audio invites BSA members to download his new song collection on iTunes called "Courageous Heart: Seven Byronic Songs" at www.pathfinderaudio.co.uk. On the website, there are details of the songs, an essay on "Byron and Islam," and links to one of the songs called "Marathon" on YouTube.
