Group Description

Rich Grunke (aka sixties oldies guy) started this site in 2008 to focus on the interesting genre of vinyl 45 B-sides. Some B-sides got promoted to A-sides and became hits, or received enough airplay to allow both sides of a single to chart. Others showed a different side of the artist, were instrumentals, or appeared on several 45s but never made it on a LP. Some were simply throwaways so the "writer" could share in the A-side's potential royalties. This site specializes in sharing and appreciating the B-sides of songs that hit the Top 100 during the 60's and early 70's, with emphasis on the Top 40.

Rich featured a different radio station's survey each week, and posted up to 10 B-sides of songs from that chart. The surveys varied from Billboard's ratings, but that was kind-of a good thing - we usually found a surprise or two on each chart. Picture sleeves (US or foreign) with cool shots of the featured artists were put up when possible.

B-sides that were lucky enough or good enough to make the Top 40 typically were not included. Rich varied the stations and years each week, but kept the same time frame for the chart week and the then-current date.

Our good friend Rich passed in December of 2012, but his legacy of "sharing and appreciating" lives on. Jeff Lemlich (aka baseboy65 and Jeffers66) has agreed to take the helm and keep the magic going. With this change in management there may be some minor changes in direction. Jeff may spotlight a year or an artist, rather than a specific chart, but will still keep the music and information flowing. Bob Halverson will stay in "picture sleeve mode", posting pic's of the artists when possible.

Thanks for visiting our site! Feel free to add American, Canadian or British late-50's, 60's or early-70's B-sides you would like to share. The only thing we ask is that you not post songs that charted Top 40 in the US.
