Group Description

Descendants of the Bristows/Bristers of Middlesex County, Virginia. John Bristow, as a youth, was found wandering in the Colony in 1663 and, because he could offer no good reason for his being there, he was indentured for a period of seven years. [Order Book, Lancaster County, Virginia, 1663, page 264]. One of his grandsons, named John Bristow, ran away from home in Middlesex County, at the age of 16, in 1737, and went to live with a relative in Stafford/Prince William County. These are just two of the family traditions passed down through the generations of this family.
