      This report was originally published in Spanish in 1999 by the Mexican government's Instituto Nacional de Ecología (INE). The newly-available English-language version was produced by the Gila Resources Information Project (GRIP) and the Interhemispheric Resource Center (IRC) with financial support from the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
