URGENT CALL TO ACTION!!!!***URGENT CALL TO ACTION!!!!

SUPPORT MACLOVIO ROJAS WITH YOUR PRESENCE!!

Justice for Nicolasa Ramos and the leaders of Maclovio!

      Dec. 12, 7:00 AM
      @ Maclovio Rojas

Tomorrow, starting at 7:00 AM, the Maclovio Rojas
community is planning a protest march to the State
Government offices in Tijuana. The march will go from
      Maclovio Rojas to Tijuana.

They are interested in having international presence on
the march to observe and accompany community members on
this critical march. They are afraid members
of the march might be arrested. Anyone interested in
joining can come to the Aguas Calientes Center in Maclovio
between 7:00 AM and 8:00 AM.

For more information call: Maclovio Rojas at
      011-52-664-604-8774 and
speak to Leticia, or call Carmen at 011-52-664-805-3380.

      WHY THE MARCH?
Last Wednesday, December 4th, the police came to arrest
several of the leaders of the community of Maclovio Rojas.
This is in line with a great amount of repression that the
community has faced for years. Authorities succeeded in
arresting one leader, Nicolasa Ramos, and broke into the
house of Hortencia Hernandez, breaking down several doors,
trying to arrest her. She was not there at the time
however, and has been in hiding ever since, as has Artemio
      Osuna, another community leader.

The leaders are accused of stealing water from the
aqueduct. The community has been trying to get the
government agency in charge of water to connect them to
the aqueduct for several years, and as recently as October
had another meeting with the head of that agency about
this. They want to pay for the water and regularize that
service. It is the government that has been dragging its
      feet about this.

Since everyone in the community is connected to the water,
it doesn't make sense that only the leaders are accused of
stealing it. Also many communities are connected to the
aqueduct, not just Maclovio Rojas, but it is in Maclovio
Rojas that the leaders are being prosecuted. The community
feels that this is a political persecution on the part of
the PAN government against the community.
