      TEACH-IN ABOUT SAN QUINTIN

The Globaliphobics Network of the Californias invites you to participate in a
Teach-in about San Quintin. As part of the Globaliphobics campaign to support
the struggles of the indigenous farm-workers of this region, we will spend
two days learning from Baja California professors, NGO workers and directly
from San Quintin activists about: the migration of workers to the San
Quintin, the labor and environmental conditions, and the history of union and
      social movement struggles.

The teach-in will take place February 10-11, 2001 in Baja California. The
first sessions of the Teach-in will take place in Ensenada on Saturday.
Participants will spend the night there before travelling to San Quintin on
Sunday, returning to Tijuana/San Diego late Sunday night.

Participants will meet in Ensenada at 12 noon on February 10th at the Plaza
Cívica (a plaza with statues of three large presidential heads). (Please see
      below regarding carpooling.)

The San Quintin Sub-committee of the Globalifobics will provide help
coordinating logistics, attempting to keep the costs as low as possible.
However, the nature of accommodations and transportation (and therefore their
cost) will entirely depend upon the number of people who attend. Possible
      expenditures will include:

      Food

Transportation – Helping to cover gas and insurance, possibly renting a small
      bus

Tourist Visa for US participants -- US$17 YOU NEED TO BRING YOUR PASSPORT OR
BIRTH CERTIFICATE (Bring originals: Mexican Office of Migration does not
      accept fotocopies
      .)

Hotel accommodations -- (Depending on the number of participants, free
      lodging may be available)

      To participate, you must:

_____ RSVP by February 6 to
      Endavalos@...
      or
      globalifobicos@...
      .

_____ If a U.S. citizen, have a passport or a birth certificate and photo I.D.

_____ Be willing to respectfully learn from indigenous activists with years
      of organizing experience.

      Please indicate if:

_____ you have a vehicle and would be willing to:

_____ drive to Ensenada (Number of seats available in car ______)

_____ drive all the way to San Quintin (150 miles south Ensenada on a paved,
good condition highway with one line each direction)

_____ you would like to carpool but don’t have a vehicle.
