A regional coordinator’s work is to develop programs to engage returned
Witness for Peace delegates and others in our work to change US policy and
corporate practices that contribute to poverty and oppression in Latin
America and the Caribbean. Regional Coordinators must also organize and
lead Witness for Peace delegations, edit and produce regional newsletters,
help design and carry out action campaigns, organize annual retreats for
returned delegates and activists, and organize speaking tours. The RC must
be willing and able to raise the funds necessary to organize the region,
with support from the Board of Directors.
The following skills and experience are needed for this position:
develop outreach materials (quarterly newsletters, flyers for delegations or
speaking tour,outreach brochures, WFPSW brochures, sample letters to
Congress or to media editors)
Organize meetings (set agenda, run meetings, distribute work among
Correspond w/ those interested in WFPSW
Represent WFPSW at coalition meetings, actions
Organize speaking tour (contacting venues, mailing info, emailing info.,
up calls, establishing date/location/stipend, communicating w/
Report to Board of Directors
Write Fundraising Letters
Represent WFPSW at National Regional Coordinator meetings
Organize regional retreat
Additional RC Duties:
Develop/Work with Board of Directors
BA in Latin American Studies, International Relations, or Development
Studies preferred as well as Spanish language skills.
Familiarity with Witness for Peace’s mission and history is desirable.
