Nogales, AZ: volunteer training Sat, April 7
Anyone from Phoenix interested in attending this training in Nogales and would like to carpool from here, please contact Miguel at mpickard0806@... for carpooling.

This coming Saturday, there will be a training session for local southern Arizona volunteers interested in participating in No More Deaths work in Nogales, Sonora. Please come! The purposes of this session are:

      (1) Give you an introduction to what No More Deaths volunteers do in Nogales and the context in which we do it, preparing you for "hands-on" training (a rather offensive concept when we're talking about working with human beings, hence the scare quotes) in one or more specific services. The attached documents give some concrete details about those services.

      (2) Give you an opportunity to connect with the work you want to do.

The session will be from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Apr. 7 at 385 W. Crawford St., Apt. 2, Nogales, Arizona (one block west of McDonald's). A walking excursion to Nogales, Sonora, will be included, so please bring your passport (or other documents necessary for returning to the U.S.) as well as drinking water, comfortable walking shoes, and a hat. Lunch will be provided at the apartment. Spanish translation will be arranged for those more comfortable learning in Spanish.

Carpooling from Tucson: 9 a.m. from Southside Presbyterian Church, 317 W. 23rd St.
Carpooling from Phoenix:  Contact Miguel at mpickard0806@....

The Nogales working group of No More Deaths has a consensus that anyone who is going to be volunteering in Nogales in any sustained way needs this training. So again, please come! If you have any questions, please feel free to reply directly to me (David Hill) or to Vicki Kline (victoria.kline@...).
