PUERTO RICAN POLITICAL PRISONER, ANTONIO CAMACHO NEGRON, IS BEING HELD
      INDEFINITELY

Sunday August 15, 2004, New York, NY- Antonio Camacho Negron, a Puerto
Rican Political Prisoner incarcerated in FCI Allenwood, was denied release
the morning of Friday August 13. According to Linda Backiel Esq., a
progressive lawyer based in Puerto Rico, a hearing to deal with the fine
that was imposed on Camacho Negron during his sentencing was never
scheduled. Camacho Negrons release could not occur without the hearing.
Camacho Negron, who has refused to pay the fine, denied the application for
a hearing. Prison officials are supposed to schedule a hearing regardless
of the prisoners refusal to participate, but they did not.

Allegedly a hearing has been called for this upcoming week, but no official
date or time has been established. As of now, Camacho Negron is being held
indefinitely until this hearing can take place.

Camacho Negron was not included in President Clinton's 1999 clemency offer,
which 12 of the Puerto Rican Political Prisoners accepted. He has been
forced onto parole twice in the past five years. Each time he was paroled,
he publicly stated that he would not recognize any parole conditions, I
will not legitimize the United States authority over Puerto Rico or
myself...Puerto Rico is an illegal colony of the United States. Camacho
Negron was incarcerated for violating parole conditions each time.

Camacho Negrons upcoming release represents the culmination of his prison
sentence and carries no parole conditions.

The ProLibertad Freedom Campaign is continuing to investigate this matter
and will keep our supporters, allies and the media updated as information
      comes to us.
