Group Description

This is a forum and support group for parents whose children have either "failed to launch" or are "boomerang kids" (those who have returned to the nest). This situation frequently results in a prolonged parent-child relationship, which can disrupt marriages, health and planned retirements. This forum (which will remain unmoderated unless there are "problems") is named for a situation where children return home after being away from home for awhile.

Many articles have been written on this subject. Please take time to read some of the great articles you can reach through the "Links" section of this group (look on the left side of your screen for this).

This group was started after a few of us found our way to a part of Rona Maynard's website and discovered that there appear to be few places for folks like us to gather and exchange stories. Rona is a gifted writer and editor and recently published the book "My Mother's Daughter." She also has had first-hand experience (mostly positive) with her son moving home as a young adult.

Feel free to post your sad tales, success stories and, most importantly, strategies for re-launching your adult children back into the world to become self-supporting adults. Go ahead and vent, but recognize that you might get a reply you don't like or a suggestion you don't want to implement. Remember that everyone is entitled to their opinion and some may express it harshly or without much tact. Please do comment on others' stories, especially if you have insight into their situations. But try to keep things on-topic so the forum can serve its intended purpose.
