Yeah...uh NO.  My opinion stands just the way it was stated.  It's an OPINION, nothing more or less, good or bad.  You, on the other hand, have a bit more to learn about the English language  before you criticize my verbiage.

I don't believe my comment is strong, offensive, OR  condescending.  Evidently it's just not what you want to hear.

Dear Ms. Kim.  Thank you for your comments and opinion but your reaction came off a bit strong, offensive and condescending to me.  Can you kindly use better choice of words.

Thank you for your understanding.  We are not asking you to change your mind, it is a mere "opinion" from your kind neighbors of Bodger Park.

OMGoodness!  What are y'all thinking and where exactaly is your mind-set at?

Your take on bringing a casino into our city is that it will cause more people to gamble.  Really?  Those that gamble uncontrolably will always continue to do so and find it wherever they can.  Those that gamble responsibly will have a new place to go to, which will give our city more tax dollars.

Stop trying to "babysit" the population, it's not your job, nor will it ever work.I certainly don't want you to babysit me and tell me what to do, would you like me doing it to you?

We want our city to be solvent; have money for all that we need.  I think that some of the suggestions made are really good, I just don't believe that others should be trashed due to personal (and somewhat knee-jerk) reactions.

Just so ya know, I think gambling is really bad; I think it's wrong. But my opinion is not the whole city's opinion, and I know and respect that.  Do you?

Excellent letter! There WAS a 6-screen theater at the Hawthorne Plaza (when it was still open). However, when the plaza shuttered, so did the theater and other businesses.

I did hear something that all of the prior proposals for the Plaza site were kiboshed by the problem of the parking structures. Perhaps someone could clear up the confusion. What someone had told me was that the plaza could be torn down, but there was something about the parking structure where special permission was required for its demolition.

It has come to my attention
that Hawthorne wants to build a casino to help raise revenue
for the city. I understand that the idea is that its going
to cause the city to invest in jobs and profit. However, I
feel that this is a recipe for disaster. First of all, if
money is the answer, a casino is not going to solve our
prayers. Sure, the city might invest some money on location
and promotion. However, when complete, the casino may leave
many of Hawthorne's residents on the street suffering
from a financial burden due to gambling addiction. If
gambling addiction does occur, imagine all of those people
whom lose their jobs for the sake of the game. Money is then
      invested on two things-drugs and
alcohol. It doesn't take much to realize that this will
leave our citizens traumatize. Broken families will emerge
due to domestic violence, neglect, and personality change.
When people are given a financial incentive to participate
in risky behavior, they loose a sense of themselves and
      their responsibility.
          Instead of focusing on
creating a place that won't be much used to families. We
should look at things that the city does not contain. I made
a short list of family activities that will benefit the
public and would can be used to create funds for our city.

alley (the closest locations are in Playa del Rey or
      Gardena)    -Gym
(We have two located in Hawthorne, LA Fitness and
Equinox, however those two gyms are in
          close proximity to each
other and may not cater to the needs of all of
      Hawthorne's residents. We
          could bring a Planet
Fitness which is affordable to most citizens)    -Movie
Theatre (Closest locations Arc Light which is in El Segundo,
      Gardena Cinema in Gardena, and
          AMC 16 in Redondo Beach
      are the closest ones)    -Miniature
Golf (Closest locations in Torrance and Norwalk)    -Laser
Tag (Closest locations in Torrance and Glendale)    -Mall
(Closest locations in Culver City, Torrance, and Redondo
you can see for all of these activities we have to travel
else where. Normally, when in search for entertainment you
have to search in a different city and send your money
elsewhere. The listed activates are items that will bring a
huge revenue to our city. It will allow families to be
social and would create a safe place for our youth to
socialize. Monetary, this would create more investments for
our city as there isn't so many locations for bowling,
laser tag, miniature gold that it would create a following
      from other neighboring communities.     I
visited Santa Ana, they have a $2 Movie Theatre that is
well groomed and is actually better than all the local movie
theatres in the surrounding area. Because of the fact that
it is inexpensive, it always has clients. People actually
receive very good customer service.  With proper
supervision and planning we can also have a location such as
this (http://www.pictureshowent.com/). A casino will only
attract the attention of a few followers. We need to create
areas that cater to a huge number, not the selected few.
          If Hawthorne stands true to
their motto "City of Good Neighbors" it is
essential that we take care of each other and use
preventative measures. By ensuring the safety, monetary
security, and emotional  stability of Hawthorne's
citizens we will invest in a future of citizens who will
have the potential to make our city grow.
