2337Removal of Weeds and Waste Duty of Tenants and Owners

      FYI -

      On July 10, 2007, the Hawthorne City Council approved Ordinance No. 1899 relating to the the Duty of Tenants and Property Owners to remove waste from adjoining sidewalk. Failure to do so will result in a fine of $100 for the first infraction, $200 for the second infraction and $500 for the third infraction.
      Section 8.14.020 (Duty of Property Owner or Others in Possession - Removal of Weeds and Waste) of the Hawthorne Municipal Code was amended to require the owner, the agent of the owner, the lessee, the tenant, the occupant, or person in possession of any lot, tract or piece of land, improved or unimproved, in the city, to at once remove from the sidewalk abutting or adjoining such lot, tract or piece of land the following:
      A. All earth, soil, grass, weeds, dead trees, and other unsanitary substances or objects which may endanger or injury neighboring property, or the health and safety or welfare of the residents of the vicinity of the property, lands or lots, or obstruct such sidewalks and thereby endanger or injure persons traveling thereon
      B. Any rubbish, refuse, litter, waste paper or waste material of all kinds
