      Yakkers,

I also completed a bird survey at Toppenish National Wildlife Refuge
this week, mine were all in the outlying units. I used the same protocol
as Andy, 5 minutes at each of the 12 count points. Most of the
properties I surveyed were dry-land with a few that had water from
Toppenish creek, so I was able to count 1 duck. Here's a list of what
      was there:

      Mallard 1
      California Quail 2
      Ring-necked Pheasant 2
      American White Pelican 4
      Great Blue Heron 1
      Northern Harrier 4
      Red-tailed Hawk 2
      Killdeer 1
      Wilson's Snipe 1
      Mourning Dove 2
      American Kestrel 1
      Western Wood-Pewee 1
      Willow Flycatcher 7
      Western Kingbird 3
      Black-billed Magpie 3
      American Crow 3
      Tree Swallow 10
      Bank Swallow 7
      Barn Swallow 1
      Cliff Swallow 4
      American Robin 2
      Common Yellowthroat 10
      Yellow-breasted Chat 3
      Savannah Sparrow 2
      Song Sparrow 11
      Black-headed Grosbeak 2
      Lazuli Bunting 5
      Red-winged Blackbird 32
      Western Meadowlark 1
      Brewer's Blackbird 18
      Bullock's Oriole 2
      American Goldfinch 3
