      A lot of the ponds that were very productive for shore birds in past years are dry, but some of the historically deeper ponds are low on water and have exposed mud this year. Shore bird numbers were low but diversity was fair. Bird seen include:

      6 Greater Yellowlegs
      9 Long-billed Dowitchers (keek-keek-keek)
      4 Least Sandpipers
      4 Western Sandpipers
      4 Spotter Sandpipers
      15 Killdeer

      Interestingly, the Westerns were all colorful heavily spotted and streaked adults.

      PLEASE BE EXTREMELY CAREFUL if you go to the STP! The RATTLE SNAKE numbers are higher than I can recall from previous years.
