A woman called the YVAS phone line yesterday reporting a Red-naped
Sapsucker near Moxee. She identified with help from Debie
Brown. She is sending me a photo she took of it. This is about ten
days later than the bar graph in Andy's book shows for the latest
Red-naped Sapsucker sighting in Yakima County in the fall. I talked
to her this morning and she said she hasn't seen it again.
It is also remotely possible that this bird was a Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker, which nests in eastern B. C. and eastward across
Canada. There are a handful of sightings in Washington and many more
than that in California.
