East Valley Sage Grouse - yard bird
This evening, while returning home, I spotted a large gallinaceous
bird in my driveway, not more than 300 feet from my house. As I drew
near in my car it became clear that the bird was a large male Sage
Grouse. As I approached he took flight and flew east in the general
direction of the Audubon Hoeger Preserve.
This was a new yard bird for me, and by far the best yard bird I've
seen here. These birds are quite easy to find in the winter about 3
miles north of here on the north side of Yakima Ridge.
