Re: Katrina and Honey Bees
- I'm using a neighbor's computer to give a breif update.
I THANK GOD I HAVE A LEAKY ROOF!!! It was a wonderful sight to
behold my house still stands and with shingles, sheetrock, and some
hardwood flooring will be good as new again.
As far as the behives go; number 1 still thrives and was only tilted
because it shares the stand with number 2 which was hit by a peacan
limb, #2 has been slimed, #3 was 15 minutes north of the beach and
suffered no storm damage (I think they may have swarmed though, the
traffic at the entrance looks lower than normal), #4 was slimed
before the storm, #5 was topled and swarmed, was recaptured, swarmed,
recaptured and swarmed and lost, #6 was toppled and lost the queen,
#7 was perfectly upside down and now has the remaining population of
#5 and #6, #8 lost the queen before the storm and had been added to
#5, number 9 was south of the tracks, just a block off the beach and
was washed away. So in addition to the blessing of a leaky roof I am
also thankful that I still have 3 hives that may survive the winter.
THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR PRAYERS!!
