5K Run - Saturday, May 7, in Washington, DC -- early bird deadline is May 2
- Just a friendly reminder to register for "Connect the Dots . . . 5K
Run and 1-Mile Walk To Benefit Women's Health Research." The event
is Saturday, May 7, at 8:00 a.m. and takes place on Ohio Drive in
West Potomac Park in Washington, D.C. We're using a flat, fast,
certified course (USATF Certification No. DC98006JS). The start and
finish point is very close to the one used by the Sallie Mae 10K.
The prize packages for the event continue to grow. Just added this
week: Two participants, drawn at random, will each receive a
$100.00 gift certificate to The Capital Grille, which has two
Washington-area locations. See the Web site for more prize
Many have asked about parking: Ohio Drive, SW, will be closed
between Independence Avenue and the Inlet Bridge at 6:30 a.m. on
race day. The good news is that the remainder of Ohio Drive towards
Hains Point will not be closed until 7:45 a.m., just prior to the
race's 8:00 a.m. starting time. So, up to 7:45 a.m., parking will
be available on Ohio Drive in Lots A, B, and C, which are just past
the Inlet Bridge.
Registration is just $15 and the deadline for early registration is
Monday, May 2.
The extended forecast for May 7 looks good: partly cloudy skies, a
high of 71 degrees, and a low of 55.
