San Gabriel, CA
Geologist (11 years) life-long hiker, recent backpacker, currently a
Geologist/GIS Specialist working with MapInfo & ArcView GIS software.
Computer: AMD Thunderbird Athelon Processor, 512 MB RAM, 2 10G hard
drives, plus lots o' other goodies (can you say COMPUTER GEEK???)
Comparable products owned: Topo! Los Angeles/Santa Barbara areas,
Topo! Yosemite, Mammoth and Central Sierra, TrailSmart: National Parks
of the Canyon Country and the Southwest, MapInfo, ArcView 3.2
GPS: I want, I want, I want!
Most of my testing will be in the San Gabriel Mountains or in my
thesis field area in the San Joaquin Hills. If I ever get a GPS, I'd
like to test it out in my field area and see how the waypoints plot in
the Delorme program vs. the Topo! program. I'd also like to compare
both the Delorme and Topo! programs with the higher end GIS programs
of MapInfo and ArcView.

- Thanks for the opportunity to apply for this test Jerry. I have just
returned from the Frank church-River of No Return Wilderness in Idaho and
would have loved to have been able to use it. However, I will use it in East
Texas in the various National Forests and Parks. Big Bend is a trip coming
up that could really use good topo map access.
It only took two days to fly back from Idaho to Texas. Not bad compared to
others trying to fly last week with all the trouble at the airports.
I would like to apply for the DeLorme Topo USA test. I have read and
understand the requirements set out before me and will comply.
I will submit all tests on time and if I fail to do so will mail the
equipment back to the manufacturer at my cost.
My name is Larry Duke and I am 54 years old. I am 5'6" tall and 160 pounds
in weight. My experience is intermediate level with most being weekend to
four day treks in Texas, Colorado, and just recently a trip to the Frank
Church-River of No Return Wilderness with another friend for 6 days.
I have hiked/camped in Rwanda, Nigeria, Russia, and Austria during the
course of my employment, and will be testing the DeLorme Topo system in the
Texas Davey Crockett National Forest and Big Bend National Park. Although I
have not used this program, I am looking forward to this test to see the
abilities of it.

Do you want user reports on this? I already have the product. I do need to
write some reviews anyway, just need to find the time.
