10703Application to test GoLite Hex 2
- Apr 1, 2002Application to test GoLite Hex 2
Name: David Anderson
I have been involved in backpacking for around 27 years and have been car camping even longer. I have been
sea kayaking for around 4 years and this is my third season of snowshoeing. I try to get out a couple of times a month
for backpacks or kayak camping, and do several day hikes each week. Most of my backpacking experience is in California,
Colorado, New England and the Pacific North West.
I would be interested in testing the GoLite Hex 2. Lately I have been playing
with using a Hennessy Hammock to lighten my load on solo backpacks, but we
need to work on coming up with a lighter option to our Mountain Hardwear
Skyview 3 for trips where Laurie and I are hiking together.
I used to sleep out in the open with just a tarp that I could pull over my
sleeping bag if it started raining, Laurie on the other hand is having trouble
with the concept of sleeping without a floor and walls. I think the Hex 2 would
be a good way to move towards the goal of getting her out under the stars.
I would test the Hex 2 in the Olympics and Cascades of western Washington and
also along the coast of Washington and Oregon. Even in the summer it will get
plenty of exposure to wind and rain. It will also go on a sea kayaking trip to
the Sunshine Coast of BC this June. I would like to experiment with hanging the
tent from the peak loop to avoid having the pole in the middle of the living
I have read the reporting requirements in the Survival Guide and agree to comply with them.
