CHESTNUT HILL, Mass. - The No. 9 Boston University men's ice hockey team suffered a 5-2 setback to top-ranked Boston College on Saturday evening at Conte Forum. The Terriers move to 8-5-0 overall and 6-4-0 in Hockey East play.
After allowing the Eagles to strike first on a power play midway through the opening period, BU tied it up on a power-play tally of its own from the stick of sophomore Cason Hohmann to make it a 1-1 contest heading into the first intermission.
The home team, however, dominated play in the second, tacking on three more power-play goals to take a 4-1 lead before adding another marker early in the third to take a four-goal lead.
Sophomore Evan Rodrigues got his second goal of the weekend on a power play later in the third to create the 5-2 final.
With the result, the teams split their weekend home-and-home series following BU's 4-2 triumph at Agganis Arena on Friday. BC clinched the season series in league play thanks to its 4-2 win back on Nov. 11.
BC (11-2-0, 9-2-0 Hockey East) got two goals from junior Bill Arnold and classmate Kevin Hayes added three assists.
Freshman goaltender Matt O'Connor made 31 saves on 36 shots and BC senior Parker Milner earned the win in goal with a 21-save performance.
The Terriers will return to action on Thursday (Dec. 6) when they travel to face No. 2 New Hampshire. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
