  • That's surprising John. What TNC and version of Outpost? BPQMail support is only in the later versions and had some rough edges to be ironed out. Recommend v2.8 and leaving the recent v3.0 alone till it matures a bit more. v2.8 should work fine with BPQMail once setup. Yeah everyone has their favorite digital mode and software.....and swears by them ;-) 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • Plus the foundation for DSP Tracker modem support has been laid in Outpost (it's there, but very alpha at this point). When complete that will open up HF robust packet as an Outpost mode. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • Good to remember that RMS Express for BPQBBS access is not what RMSE was intended for. BBS access with RMSE is a kludge at best and thanks to John's work on the BPQ side to support it. Outpost is working towards supporting attachments and compression. That will be game changer for many BPQBBS folks. I know I'm going to cheer loudly as I hit uninstall on RMS Express ;-) 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • John, want me see if I can get you either a loaner or refurb via SCS to code/debug against similar to what we did with the DSP Tracker modem? I think they (SCS) have been busy finishing up the new DR-7x00 firmware with robust packet in it they released over the weekend. Maybe now they will have more time and resources available to help. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • Per the Help listing that is proper behavior since N alone is the Name command. You need to type out the full word of node then it will take you to the node. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • ...interface. Guess it would be interesting to get service manuals for both the 710 and 71 and do a component level comparison. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • That might be a myth. ARRL lab reviews/performance testing of the V71 vs D710 show some performance differences. Nothing huge, so maybe it's radio to radio variations, flaws in their lab testing, or two slightly different RF decks = good question. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO

  • ...Spirit-2 modems in XKISS mode is a better approach for a 9.6k node radio/modem if you want to use "off the shelf" gear. 73 Jeff WA4ZKO
