Re: [BPQ32] Virus Notice - BPQ32
- I have scanned, using Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE) updated to 2010/11/26 4:55AM CSD, all my bpq32 files individually, the current installer, prior installers going back a year, as well as the full NSIS installer suite used to generate the installer. I have also scanned the installed BPQ32 on two machines. It all passes as virus free.
Additionally I did a full scan on the system a few weeks ago, and MSE scans daily plus scans everything new as it is added. Of course this assumes that MSE is effective, which I must assume it is.
It is not uncommon for an installer to be detected as a virus. Apparently all the code in the installer to delete files, i.e. the uninstall option, to write to ..\system32 (we have to put bpq32.dll there) to modify the registry, etc could be considered suspicious. At least this is often discussed in the NSIS forums.
I am confident BPQ32 and it's installer are clean.
