RE: [BPQ32] More questions - APRS
My UI-VIEW, NWS GET, UI-NWS shows just under 4 MB VM,
running a 1.1 Gig 512 MB Memory XP Home, Setting in
System Properties, Advanced, Performance, Advanced Tab,
Background Serves & System Cache are Checked, this
alone makes a noticeable Difference.
I use the same setting on the packet machine 3.0 G P 4
With Hyper Thread 2 GB memory.

It hasn't been running long - only since this thread started - but my UIView
is showing 16 MB usage, 4 MB VM size (which is odd - normally VM size is
larger). In comparison RMS Express is using 25 MB, and Outlook over 50 MB.
BPQMallChat and bpqterminal are around 5 MB..
Genrally old applications will use far less memory, as they were written in
the days of small machines. Anything using .NET will be big.

> UI-View is only 53 Meg expanded, WinAPRS is smaller but not as impressiveThese days that's a big help document... Disk space isn't the
issue.. I was going to have 5 eSata 1.5 or 2 TB drives on this
system. Then I learned about PCI-Express. :-( So it's probably
only going to have two of the 1.5 TB drives - maybe even in Raid
The question is how much system RAM does it take to run? This single
Firefox instance is showing up as 128 MB -- which is barely
significant on this work computer but it would be using most of the
available system on a 512 MB machine.
