I would like to reiterate my firmware update wish...
The ability to select what flashes on the first display line. I still like
the display of the older "T" models where the first display line alternated
between "System Name" and "Group Name" for trunked systems. The "XT"s
alternate between "Site Name" and "Group Name". This is hard on those of us
(or at least me) who live in multi-state areas, or who travel a lot since
site names could easily be confused unknown "sites" or by repeated names. I
use a system naming convention of MD-xxxxx (MD-Montgomery Co / MD-Pr Georges
Co /MD-Charles Co / VA-Arlington Co). While I'm probably in the minority, I
know that others have asked for the same.

I would like to add the following:
1. A user setable option to have the backlight turn on automatically when
the radio is plugged into external power and turned on.
2. A true battery charging algorithm in the firmware that uses negative
delta slope to determine the end of charge instead of blindly running a
countdown timer that can potentially overcharge a partially discharged
battery. (Please correct me if I am wrong about this one.)

flashing it. The recording/logging software out there does not always log
the tone due to the gate time of the flashing display. Make it stationary.

scan past it. It remains on the encrypted transmission. Thankfully, the
radio does however continue to scan when the encrypted transmission is part
of a trunked system. Make that user switchable also. Sometimes you want to
log the talkgroup that is encrypted but never see it on the display because
it scans by it so quickly.
