301Re: [BCD396XT] I hit the brakes on the pro-106
- Dec 31, 2008There are a number of things that can make the 396 appear to deaf, and in
most cases the fix is fairly simple. The firmware can cause it, but a simple
re-downloading and installong of the same firware once or twice usually
fixes that, the exact same thing with the programming, some times you have
to re-install it a couple times. Those two issues are easy to fix. The next
thing is obviously the antenna, they do wear out, with rubber ducks it's
usually a broken wire internally. I use the Radio Shack 800Mhz rubber duck
and bought one that was bad, replaced it and it hasn't come off that radio.
And lastly, it's very possible your particular radio may need adjusted and
sending it off to Uniden for a tweaking isn't unheard of.
