While you could program both aspects manually from the keyboard, as a
practical matter you'd be better off downloading one of the programs
that allows you (with a premium subscription) to download the data
directly from RadioReference into the program and then to transfer it
to the scanner. FreeScan is a good choice for software to do that.
If your computer has a serial port, you're all set. If not, you need
to get either a serial to USB adapter or the Uniden USB-1 cable which
includes the adapter as part of the cable. In those cases, be sure
to install the driver before connecting the cable.
If you choose to not get a RR premium subscription, you can use the
EZGrab feature in FreeScan to import the data via the computer
clipboard or you can type it in.
Unfortunately, doing all of this the first time can be a bit
