Speaking of an external charger...is there any device out there that can check, or test load, AA batteries? I have a bunch of batteries that I have charged but some only last a very short time. I would like to purchace a load tester (if that's what it is called) so I can throw away (or recycle) the old batteries and not be dissapointed when my camera or scanner poops out after 30 mins.

You can put any type in your scanner, but I would recommend charging
them externally for a proper charge. I would also recommend sticking
      with name brand cells.

ones that came with the scanner are 2250mah. I went out today and could only
found ones that were 2450mah, will those work? I want to be sure to get he
correct ones and also get ones that the unit will recharge with the power
      adapter. Any help greatly appreciated.
