Think before you build
To representatives Feinstein/Boxer/Hill/Simitian/Eshoo/Lee, although not politically wise, please remember the Golden Rule.
The High-Speed Rail Authority (HSRA) decided to run 150 mph trains through the middle of families/homes/businesses from San Jose to San Francisco [BATN: HSRA proposes 125 mph or less].
The HSRA Board "experts" are comprised primarily of politicians and lobbyists, and a "business representative" from Operating Engineers Local 3.
To decide to dissect hundreds of families' backyards and homes with 150 mph trains is both unwise and unprecedented worldwide. Unprecedented use of eminent domain is now required for government to "take and evict" thousands [BATN: thousands! ... why not millions!?] of poor, elderly, minority, non-English speaking Peninsula families and city businesses. HSRA provides no notice to these families and children, nor the schools located near the Caltrain tracks, prior to the Condemnation Lawsuit.
Representatives, before blindly supporting the HSRA because trains are "green," inform your decisions keeping in mind your constituents and soon-to-be-evicted families/children/elderly who predate the train [BATN: the SF-SJ rail line was built in the early 1860s and has been in continuous operation since then], and put your family in their shoes.
