BART Collision Shakes Up East Bay Riders

OAKLAND -- A crash has occurred between two Bay Area Rapid Transit
trains at the 12th Street Station in Oakland, causing delays to
      Richmond and Pittsburg-Bay Point.

It happened around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, when an East Oakland
train and a Lake Merritt train were both entering the station. BART
spokesman Linton Johnson said one train was being driven manually
      the other was on automatic.

Several people were treated for what appeared to be minor injuries.
Approximately 300 passengers were onboard the two trains.

Johnson said the cause of the accident is being investigated, and
drivers will be drug-tested, which is standard after an accident.
Delays are running up to 45 minutes on the affected routes.
