      BART offers fliers long-term parking

      By Tyche Hendricks

Airline travelers who want to save money on long-term parking costs
when flying from San Francisco International Airport can now park
long-term at one of four Peninsula BART stations for $6 per day,
then ride the train to the airport, BART officials announced Sunday.

The BART/SFO long-term parking program mirrors a similar arrangement
that has been operating at East Bay BART stations for several years,
said BART Board President Lynette Sweet. The arrangement is intended
to raise money for BART while offering parking at a rate below that
of other airport parking lot operators.

Beginning Monday, travelers were able to reserve a parking space at
one of four station parking lots -- Colma, South San Francisco, San
Bruno or Millbrae -- over the Internet, pay for it with a debit or
credit card and print out a long-term parking permit to be placed on
the dashboard of the parked car. Spaces reserved for airport parking
will only be available until 10 a.m.

More information and an on-line reservation system can be found at
