BART to offer long-term parking for SFO travelers
Bay Area Rapid Transit officials today approved a plan to add
long-term parking for $6 a day at four Peninsula BART stations for San
Francisco International Airport travelers.
Pending federal approval, long-term parking will be offered at the
Colma, South San Francisco, San Bruno and Millbrae stations, BART
spokesman Linton Johnson said.
BART plans on allocating up to 100 spaces initially for long-term
airport parking at the Colma, South San Francisco and San Bruno
stations, and up to 200 spaces at the Millbrae station.
Airport travelers would be able to apply online at
<http://www.bart.gov> by selecting a station and entering their
proposed parking dates, and the system would then determine space
availability, Johnson said.
In addition to the $6 daily parking charge, round-trip BART fares to
SFO range from $3 at the Millbrae station to $8.70 at the Colma
SFO currently offers long-term parking for $13 a day.
The parking plan still requires approval by the federal government
because federal money was used to build the BART extension along the
Peninsula, according to Johnson.
