BART to update service to SFO

BART will improve service the San Francisco Airport in early
September with more trains and speedier service, train system
managers announced today.
BART will cut the arrival times between trains from every 20 minutes
to every 15 minutes on the extension between Daily City and stations
at the airport and Millbrae in San Mateo County, officials disclosed
during a budget workshop with the BART board.
Riders from Concord and Richmond will be able to take a single train
directly to the airport, instead of having to transfer to another
line before reaching the airport.
Train system managers said the service upgrades are possible because
BART took over full control of the airport line in February after
dissolving a joint operating partnership with SamTrans in San Mateo
San Mateo officials had been reluctant to authorize service
improvements for BART because they would have to help pay for them.
The BART board of directors on June 14 will consider approving the
service improvements along with BART's annual budget.
