Train Collides Into Car At Peninsula Gate
No Injuries Reported
SAN BRUNO -- A car trying to drive around a lowered Caltrain gate
in San Bruno was struck by an oncoming train Tuesday afternoon,
although no one was seriously injured in the crash, Caltrain
spokesman Johan Weinberg said.
Around 2:30 p.m., a car waiting where San Mateo Avenue meets train
tracks in San Bruno attempted to drive around a lowered gate that
indicated a train was coming, Weinberg said.
The car crossed the tracks, and as the train came through, it
collided with the vehicle, according to Weinberg.
The collision caused little damage to the train, according to
"People in the car were pretty shaken up," he said.
One track in the area was closed and the train involved in the crash
is out of service while Caltrain conducts an investigation, but
Caltrain service will only be minimally affected, Weinberg said.
