      6. Liaison updates (NEMA, IESNA, DALI, BACnet International)

Steve Karg updated the group on the effort to educate vendors and specifiers about the new Lighting Output and Channel objects and WriteGroup service. BACnet International was contacted about adding options on the registration form, as well as a potential roundtable testing event, at the next Plugfest in Atlanta (November, 2013). The Plugfest would encourage adoption of the new objects and service by vendors, along with some press.

      7. Proposal Discussion

DHR-021-6 - Binary Lighting Output object, had been voted to SSPC-135, and had been reviewed at the previous plenary session. It was returned to this working group for revisions and direction. David Ritter led the discussion as the group reviewed the changes made after SSPC-135 meeting. The existing proposal only need to remove the Clause 21 language for BACnetPropertyIdentifier since the new properties were changed to the same name as the existing properties. The working group voted to move the amended proposal to the SSPC-135 for plenary discussion.[NOTE: DHR-021 was voted at the later plenary meeting for publication public review]

DMF-054 - Lighting Output object color, had been voted to SSPC-135, and had been reviewed at the previous plenary session. It was returned to this working group for revisions and direction. Specifically, the color was not included in a prioritized way, and the committee rejected this idea and wanted to be sure that the lighting working group wanted to have an un-prioritized color property.

The working group discussed several use cases for color and priority:
      a) Schedule changes color over a day
      b) A wall box controlling color change and intensity independently.
      c) Color and intensity linked for entertainment lighting.
Priority is not used in the existing color proposal. Do we add text to rule on priority in lighting command? The group then discussed life safety implications of color and lighting intensity. Typically the lighting systems have a high priority, a normal priority, and a low priority, but have all 16 priorities to conform to BACnet. Many lighting systems are simply last action, with no priority involved, but when used with BACnet, need to have a high priority override for life safety.
The group proposed some additional properties for an object supporting color:
      a) Color_Priority_Array
      b) Color_Relinquish_Default
      c) Default_Color_Fade_Time
The group proposed some additional commands in the Lighting_Command:
      a) COLOR_FADE_TO
      b) COLOR_GOTO
      c) COLOR_RELINQUISH
      d) FADE_TO (existing) - remove fade_time, change to Default_Color_Fade_Time

The discussion of color and lighting should continue at a future meeting.

      8. Disposition of Non-Agenda Items

      none

      9. Schedule for future meetings

Continue discussion of Lighting Output object color at the next meeting, or online.

LA-WG will convene at BACnet Fall meeting on November 4-8, 2013, in Atlanta. Perhaps a half day of meeting, with a couple hours to discuss color, and a few hours to discuss any testing documents that are completed.

Any vendors are invited bring lighting products to the Plugfest on November 19-21, 2013, in Atlanta, to test Lighting Output objects and Channel objects in their products, as well as testing WriteGroup service.
