      Dear Friends,

In the Baronial Challenge of "40 for 40 year" a couple of pre-Pennsic art activities are planned for Ayreton over the next six weeks.

      1. Make 40 blank scrolls for Pennsic.

These don’t have to be big or complex. If you have never made a scroll before, there are many people that would love to show you the basics, and a couple of Scribe Nights each month in Rokkhealden and Tree Girt Sea to choose from. Check the Ayreton Calendar for dates.

Also, if you will be at Border Skirmish, stop by the “Scriptorium” to learn or work on scribal projects.

      2. Make 40 scroll carriers for Pennsic.

      (Instructions can be found here:)

      3. Silk Banner/Standard Painting.

At the Ayreton Carnivale Event on July 9, there will be a station set up to outline and dye additional Ayreton silk standards to decorate the camp at Pennsic. Please come by and help for a while, or learn how to do it. It really is easy!

Then, later in the fall, workshops will be planned for people to make their own personal heraldic silk standards.

      4. Show off the A&S talents of Ayreton folk with 40 examples at Pennsic.

      A. Register to teach classes at Pennsic; even though the book deadline is passed, your class will still get listed in the Pennsic Independent newspaper.
      B. Reserve a spot at the A&S Display in the Barn by July 15, or you can register day of also. It really is a fun way to spend the day meeting new craftspeople, talking about your projects, and seeing the wonderful creations from all over the Knowne World.
      C. Volunteer to help at A&S Point or on the staff of the Performing Arts Tent. For info: http://www.pennsicwar.org/penn40/AANDS/perfarts.html

Please consider helping with one or more of these projects. Many hands make light work, and these are all fantastic projects to show off the skills, talents, and enthusiasm the people of Ayreton share.

If you have any questions, feel free to contact me off list.
