Rapier Doublet (and other classes) at MKAOD this weekend.
Are you a newish to the rapier field and ready to emerge from modern day fencing jacket to an “attempt” at period garb? Are you a fencer who is ready to cast off your torn and tattered hand me down fencing doublet for a more personna accurate ensemble? Are you a fencing clothes horse who is ready to make your own garb (or found a sewer willing to make you new doublet)? Are you a sewer who just does not quite understand SCA fencing armor rules?
If you can answer yes to any of the above then you should head over to MKAOD this weekend and attend the class “Historical Fighting Practice Clothes and Practical Doublets for SCA Fencing Use”
This 3 part class will cover practice fencing “jackets” in period, SCA fencing armor requirements, and how to adapt period doublets for SCA fighting. In addition to a whole lot of information, those who attend will be receiving a CUSTOM patterned period doublet pattern for pickup on Sunday.
If you are interested in the class “Historical Fighting Practice Clothes and Practical Doublets for SCA Fencing Use” it is Saturday afternoon at 3:30. If you would like to have a custom doublet pattern created for you, please find the instructor anytime on Saturday (preferably PRIOR to the class, so that your measurements can be taken.
To find the instructor- look for a female wearing loud German Garb (look for the feathers) most likely hanging out with the Thieves of Hearts near the rapier field. If you have a trusted individual who knows how to take accurate measurements, you can also email verena@... for the measurement sheet before class.
In addition to the SCA doublet’s class there will also be an Into to Heraldry class by Warder Damien Nitehauk, and Improvisation for the SCA by Master John Inchingham.
For those studying the more interested in the courtier aspect of the middle ages there is a period favor class taught by Lady Phaedra de Vere and a Roundtable discussing relationship maintenance during war by Baroness Keiley Duchem.
If you are looking for a more “Hands” on class, there is the class “To Soothe My Lady’s Hand” and a period perfume class taught by Lady Marie la Fauconniere
Of course this being MKAOD there are currently 26 fencing classes on the website from Fencing 101 to advanced classes.
Please visit the website for information and directions http://www.ravenslake.com/MKAODXII.html
