      RE: Medieval Views on the Flow of Time  lecture
       
      The History Department will host a free lecture, "The Occident Express and Medieval Views on the Flow of Time," by internationally respected scholar Robert E. Lerner, Ph.D., on Monday, April 28, at 1 p.m. in IC 3069.
       
      Lerner is the Peter B. Ritzma Professor in the Humanities at Northwestern University and is an internationally recognized historian specializing in the religious, intellectual and cultural history of medieval Europe. He has authored numerous articles and nine books, including The Age of Adversity, The Heresy of the Free Spirit in the Later Middle Ages, The Powers of Prophecy, and most recently, The Feast of Saint Abraham: The Joachite Millennium and the Jews.

      A fellow of the Medieval Academy and the American Academy in Rome, Lerner has won awards from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Woodrow Wilson Center for Scholars, the Max Planck Society of the Federal Republic of Germany, and the Ecoles de Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris.
      This lecture is free and open to the community.
