- Perhaps it's just me but as I start to tinker with Titler+ it is very confusing in the way it deals with text objects and the bounding boxes. Sometimes when I hit Cmd A it boxes around the text and when I add a new text object there is a square box that as I type the text goes out of the box. Depending on which type of box is highlighted dragging the object around uses translate parameters and other times it doesn't.I am green on this but seriously Avid why can't you just start with the title tool we always had and make it work in greater than HD and add functionality to that. Now when I hit the "T" button I expect to be addressing the text in the object I have highlighted, not to create a new Text object. Why can't I drag across an object and have it highlight? Is that possible and I'm missing it?So far promoting titles to Titler + has been as random as New Blue, mostly with justification issues. Then I have to justify each line separately and the lines start to act like individual objects based on the bounding box displayed but then when I drag one they all move. This really didn't need to be such a departure from how title tool has always worked, did it?John Moore Barking Trout Productions Studio City, CA bigfish@...
- Okay here's a concrete oddity. Create a new title object and I get the square solid bounding box that has no relationship to the text in that as I type this box doesn't expand. I can then click to the edge of the box and it dons the corner and center edge box dots to pull to adjust sizes. When pulling the box right side middle dot box the bounding box expand in all direction which would imply that the vertical and horizontal resizing is locked. Once I release the pulled edge the text is stretched horizontally, not symmetrically. If on the other hand I click away from the text object thereby deselecting it and hit cmd A a bounding box appears around the text with the dot boxes to pull for adjustment. This box behaves more normally when edges are dragged. It seems this second box doesn't interact with the translate parameters in the effects window but the first type of box does. I'll have to sort out what the architecture is for the different types of boxes. Here is something that makes no sense to me. If I tap on the horizontal translate parameter I can type in a number like 0 to cancel any translation. Right below this is the vertical translate parameter so I figure like I always have I can just hit tab and that parameter will highlight and I can type in a number for it. No it jumps to clear all in the Edit section. Perhaps this tab behavior is dependent on which carrots have been opened for various section but shouldn't parameters in the same section tab in the visual order they appear in like top to bottom like Avid effects have always behaved like. This tab order is a pretty basic square one thing to get right in my book.As I learned work previous Olympics, "Same S&^% different parking lot!!!"

Under the Help menu, open the Media Composer Help and type Avid Titler. There is a mini tutorial there. This might help.

- This is what I found:file:///Applications/Avid%20Media%20Composer/Help/MCHelp.html#page/Help%2FTitles.67.04.html%23It's pretty basic but it doesn't seem to address my big confusion of when I create a new title object with the T button the bounding box is square and stays that way even as I type text outside it. Latter a box will appear around all the text at certain times. I can't find the rhyme or reason. The functionality I'm looking for is the basic title tool Text button vs. the object button. I want to tell the titler to center all text in an object but instead it centers the object with the text remaining justified left, right or whatever. I can highlight one of the lines in a text object and click the center button but it centers just that line to the entire raster not to the other text in the object. This whole thing is really playing out like a cluster flop and searching online help just comes up with info on New Blue. It is so un-intuitive I may have to use New Blue as it is the piece of crap that I know and have stepped in a few times before. Sorry to be pissy but after months of touting new titler coming this is very underwhelming and frustrating.Perhaps some of my issues are in the promoting normal title tools, which was supposed to work seamlessly, but it apparently doesn't. At least for me that is. Perhaps my disdain for fonts has effected my Titler+ Karma?
- Yes - it's not fully formed. I pointed out on FaceBook that you can't use the (almost) standard pair kerning shortcut of Option/Alt + cursor keys. The old TT, Marquee, Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator (to name a few ) all do this. Also, the way of 'selecting' an object is horrible and looks suspiciously like the way it's done in NewBlue. Also, the fact that although all fonts can be previewed in the menu but some don't actually work, is very reminiscent of the early iterations of NewBlue. And I do NOT like the fact that we are working in the Effect Editor monitor. I want to hit 'Esc' and go from text editing to a selected object (like the old TT) but of course this toggles to the Source Monitor instead. So then you have to re-enter Eff Mode and THEN reselect the T+ panel before you can continue. Let's be kind and call it v 0.1.With Best Wishes, Roger Shufflebottom +44 7973 543 660
