      Yes.  Just like Digital BetaCam, HDCAM-SR uses segmented recording.  The 12 audio tracks are put on tape as segments of the video track.  Because of this, it’s beyond my expertise to venture a guess why the problem is limited to A3.
      My wild guess would be that errors are being generated during channel 3’s track stream encoding; the buffers that align the 12 audio channels with the video into a continuous stream for recording onto the tape.  This leads me to think that the problem is electronic, not mechanical.  I wish you good luck in finding the problem.
