      Hello,
I was wondering if any of the hipper and all around more knowledgeable
Avante-Garde listees might be able to answer a couple of questions about the
Fire in the Valley Festival. First, is this an ongoing event and is there
one on tap for this year? Secondly, who could I contact to aquire obviously
      much needed information?
      Thanking you in advance,
      Jim Duckworth, Memphis TN

James, You might want to send e-mail to Eremite Records (Eremite@eremite.com) for information. Michael has been associated with the Fire in the Valley Festival

        James,

You might want to send e-mail to Eremite Records (Eremite@...) for
information. Michael has been associated with the Fire in the Valley
Festival since it began and EWremite has excellent recordings from the
        festivals in its catalogue.

        Hope this helps.

            James and all,

The last time I spoke to Michael Ehlers, he was planning to
hold the Fire In The Valley Festival in October, instead of
the usual late July period. He has been busy getting his CD
releases out and producing concerts, including the wonderful
            Kidd Jordan/Fred Anderson/William Parker/Hamid Drake
sessions this past spring. Plus Alan Silva, and others.

            His correct email address is:

            eremite@...

I have been photographing his recent festivals and my shots
are used on the CD packages. Small labels like Eremite are
keeping this music alive. Hopefully Eremeite will be
releasing the Alan Silva Visions Festival Orchestra
recording. Check out the catalog at:

            http://www.eremite.com/

and help support the music of this label.

For Washington, DC area people. my photos are on exhibit
(along with three painters) at at the:

            Martin Luther King Library
901 G Street, NW, Washington, DC
            Gallery A-2 (Lower Level) and
            2nd Floor West Lobby

All the work is inspire by music. There will be a reception
on Wednesday, July 7th, 5:30 to 8:00pm. "Avant garde"
artist in my phos include Ornette, Don Cherry, World
Saxophone Quartet, Sun Ra, John Gilmore, Marshall Allen, and
the Art Ensemble of Chicago. There's an announcement and a
graphic on my web site at:

            Thanks - peace & music,
