      Grains/Living Earth/Nonsemble 6
performing a series of short combined and individual sets crossing punk band,
      free-improv, and experimental music

Grains formed in 2009 with the aim of combining minimalist music with free jazz
and punk's urgency and physicality. The group began as a guitar/drums two-piece
and has grown to include guitarist George Pritzker and tenor
saxophonist/laptopist Alex Christie, venturing ever deeper into both minimalist
punk and structured noise improvisations. Grains tries to make sense of their
influences and the world around them to create something new and different,
navigating tempos, genres, emotions and volume with equal parts precision and
      reckless abandon.

Nonsemble 6 formed in San Francisco in Fall 2009 as members of the San Francisco

Conservatory’s prestigious Chamber Music program. The group formed in order to
perform Schoenberg’s Pierrot Lunaire, and staying true to the work’s origins as
cabaret, early performances as an ensemble were in Bay Area cafes and bars as
part of the Classical Revolution. A tour of Oregon to perform and lecture at
Willamette University and in Astoria followed, as well as performances in
Baltimore, MD, a Kennedy Center debut, and in summer 2010 Nonsemble 6 were
artists in residence at the Astoria (Oregon) summer music festival. As part of
the vision to collaborate with other art forms, a set of 21 works of abstract
art to accompany the performances of Pierrot Lunaire was commissioned. In the
future this cross-genre collaboration will continue, as will the endeavor to
work with many other artists and artistic forms. This season's appearances have
included concerts at the California Academy of Sciences, a world premiere of
Mark Ackerley's new work "The Little Matchstick Girl" at the San Francisco
Conservatory, and a performance the LIVE+FREE day sponsored by the San Francisco

Friends of Chamber Music. Nonsemble 6 is a fiscally sponsored affiliate of the
San Francisco Friends of Chamber Music.

The Living Earth Show consists of guitarist Travis Andrews and
drummer/percussionist Andy Meyerson, both recent graduates of the SF
