      Table minimum $8.00 for three sets of original compositions by bandleader
      and fretless bassist Frank A. Stokes with Dan Walsh on drums, Eric Roos on
      keyboards and featuring The Awakening Horns, Dave Morgan on sax, clarinet
      and flute and Mac Gollehon on Trumpet. Dave Morgan has been praised by both
      the New York Times and the Village Voice for his work with Ornette Coleman.
      Mac Gollehon is perhaps the most recorded trumpeter working today, appearing
      on more than 75 top 40 singles out of more than 1,000 sessions recordings,
      including work with Lester Bowie, David Bowie, Mick Jagger, Bruce
      Springsteen, Madonna, Laurie Anderson among many others. Frank A. Stokes is
      celebrating his 30th year of live performances in a career which has seen
      him breathing fire during the early days of underground rock, jamming with
      Jaco Pastorius and evolving to create a jazz sound all his own.

        On Friday March 2, 2001 The Awakening returns to Kavehaz for three sets
        of original music composed by Frank A. Stokes. Table minimum is $8.00 for
        the evening, with dinner, desserts, fine wines and a full bar available.
        This will be The Awakening's first appearance since work began on their
        upcoming studio album. The band's live album is available for preview and

        the album Frank A. Stokes has led members of his orchestra in performance at
        Carnegie Hall, seen both The New York Times and Village Voice praise Dave

          In 30 years of live performances as an electric bassist Frank A. Stokes has
          evolved from a pioneering role headlining in the New York rock underground
          of the Seventies to become a modern jazz composer and bandleader. The
          Awakening is his hand picked ensemble of hot young players and talented
          veterans, including Dave Morgan on Sax, Flute and Clarinet, praised by The
          Village Voice and New York Times critic Ben Ratliff for his work with
          Ornette Coleman.
