The Lace of Oklahoma is pleased to offer a class in Greek Finger Lace - "Desia" taught by Marji Suhm, an internationally known lace teacher.
Greek finger lace is a form of intricate knotted lace, descended from the early laces of the Mediterranean, is still being worked on the island of Crete where it is known as "desia or Desies." No bobbins, shuttles, needles or other tools are needed to create beautiful designs – only a small lap pillow, a few pins and the agile fingers of the lacemaker!
Students will be taught the basic techniques and special knots of the Cretan designs. This lace has many modern uses, including bookmarks, trimmings for scarves and artistic designs suitable for framing. The course is suited for any level of lacemaker.
The class is offered October 9 and 10, 2010 in Oklahoma City and will cost $130 plus kit cost of $10.
Attached is an application that should be completed and returned with your check for class and kit costs no later than August 6 to insure your place. Class size is limited to 12 participants.

    Thank you,
    Gail Ingram
