Group Description

This group is for persons interested in the boats that operated for the armed forces in Australia or New Zealand, or were requisitioned for the Naval Auxiliary Patrol or were requisitioned by the Australian Government for the US Army Small Ships Section during WW2.

Some of these were built before WW2, others were built especially for WW2.

2014 will mark 75 years since the start of WW2. The opportunity to record first hand wartime knowledge and experiences is gradually drawing to a close.

Persons who would be interested in participating in this group might include:

- Past and present owners of boats
- Service personnel on the boats during or after WW2
- Persons involved in building service craft during WW2
- Civilian crew on the boats during or after WW2
- Maritime historians
- Model makers and artists

I have been compiling a Register of Australian and New Zealand Ships and Boats (see www.boatregister.net) and have been contacted by a number of persons who have an interest in boats that served during WW2 from all the groups mentioned above. This Yahoo group has been formed to provide a forum for discussion and mutual support.

If you have an interest, need some help or have something to offer, why not give it a go?

Regards Mori
