Just a few notes, i was reading all the past posted messages, and
very interesting to see what is posted and who is interested in
what...in the past couple of years i have built "NINA" a small gaff
cat boat 12 foot i think, that is quite a "BIG" small yacht, sails
and rows well, also the 14 foot flat bottom skiff "MAUD & EMELINE"
that i kept for my own use, sitting here on a small trailer, both
cedar , lapstrake built with 1/2 inch mdo plywood for the bottom,
since it sitts on a traoler most of the time...i use my designed
DAGGERBOARD, FITTED OVER THE GUNNEL ON THE maud & emeline, fitted the
boat with an old canvas sail cut down from an old snipe sail i had,
sewed up a sprit rigged sail about 65 square feet, small but very
good here. sails well , rows better, i changed plans a little,
designed a plumb stem in her, resulting with a little less flair in
the bows. looks great and slips through the water witth ni fuss. i do
believe small boats are more fun, and you do use them much more...i
have many pictures during construction of both boats, will look into
how to post them, for anyone looking to build one of these fine
      vessels....yes ATKINS was a GENUS.... RICHIE L....
