      The trouble with diesel-electric is that it's heavy. Both the generator and electric motor are big old chunks of copper and iron. That's fine in a sailboat or submarine, but is not good in a planing powerboat. Remember that the engine has to LIFT the weight of the entire boat when on plane. Best to keep it light.

      Besides, less engine weight means more junk you can carry around.

      Also, Robb has pointed out that Rescue Minor is wet when heavily laden.
