So, apparently, Yahoogroups is shutting down.  I don't know if this group has any plans on what to do, but one option that some of my other groups is switching to is groups.io.  No, I'm not affiliated with them and I get nothing if this group migrates over.

If the admin wants to check it out, one of my other groups shared this link for how to switch... https://groups.io/yahootransfer

This is one more example of the impermanence of the internet and why I would NEVER move my life to the "cloud".  I was looking through this group for some pictures and they all seem to already be gone.  Then, I also wanted to find the info I think was posted on here as to the exact brand of the Thule car carriers (patient transport pods) and the 95 gallon hazardous waste containers (the main engines) and I couldn't seem to wade through all the messages to find it.  Although I would say, it is STILL more convenient than Facebook's maddening continuous scroll, where everything is in one long never ending "post".

In the meanwhile, I guess all who can stomach FB will have to go to the AARG group there to stay connected
because the original AARG web page is for all intents and purposes, dormant.

Happy to switch... Do we have a kind soul that was acting as administrator? There is low activity, so I do worry we’d lose touch with interested parties,

Akin the Finder, thanks for sharing the news. Marsia, thanks for sharing these resources:
                https://fandomopolis.com/2019/10/17/major-change-in-how-yahoogroups-operate/

I started a little research also.
                Sequence:
Download your Yahoo Group data using Personal Groupware http://www.personalgroupware.com
Export the the data into your chosen database (e.g. MySql)
Upload the data using the Google Groups Migration API https://developers.google.com/admin-sdk/groups-migration/v1/get-start/getting-started

                Or a simpler/inelegant way:
                Create new group.
Forward all old messages to new group.
Invite members to join new group.

I have a big recital this weekend, but will get everything moved over to a new group Monday 10/21. Anyone have experience (or curiosity) with this and want to help?

Anyone want to weigh in on which new system we should use? I'm partial to Google, as I use it for everything: other groups, gmail, calendar, drive, spreadsheets, even dabbled a bit in apps scripting.

                Thanks,
                Adam

So, apparently, Yahoogroups is shutting down.  I don't know if this group has any plans on what to do, but one option that some of my other groups is switching to is groups.io.  No, I'm not affiliated with them and I get nothing if this group migrates over.

I started a little research also.
                          Sequence:
Download your Yahoo Group data using Personal Groupware http://www..personalgroupware.com
Export the the data into your chosen database (e.g. MySql)

                          Thanks,

                              https://fandomopolis.com/2019/10/17/major-change-in-how-yahoogroups-operate/

I started a little research also.
                              Sequence:
Download your Yahoo Group data using Personal Groupware http://www..personalgroupware.com
Export the the data into your chosen database (e.g.

If the admin wants to check it out, one of my other groups shared this link for how to switch... https://groups.io/yahootransfer

I mentioned the thing Scott recommended to my husband and he really liked it when he checked it out.  It has a tool to make it simple to just transfer everything over, so that does seem to be the better option.  He's going to try and push it for some other groups.
